The Racing side, what is it all about?

It's about involvement; as you would imagine, it is a very financially demanding sport that can often be a rollercoaster ride of emotions of extreme elation to vast disappointment. A single season's racing costs, (not including the purchase of the race car and all the paraphernalia surround it) comes in at around £80,000 - £100,000 and that's providing you have no serious damage to the car. Typically, as an indicator, a Ferrari or Porsche race car at this level will only operate 30 hours before the gearbox and engine must be completely overhauled and rebuilt.

The mechanical and physical extremes that these race cars are put through during a race are difficult to imagine in comparison even to high performance road supercar. However, as soon as you have sat in one of our race cars around a race circuit at race pace, it all becomes only too clear.

So we are not talking about highly modified road supercars here; these are low volume production, race specific cars, specially ordered straight out of the Ferrari or Porsche factories; these cars are strictly non road legal, are extremely light with highly modified suspension, gearboxes, driver controls, Tyres, brakes, seats, bodywork, you name it! The cars therefore offer high levels of downforce and therefore grip through design.

These cars have to be specially transported to race circuits in the UK and Europe by large HGV trailer units. Similar to those used by F1, these transporters are able to carry two GT Race cars and all the equipment for the technicians to run the cars at the circuit, this is in addition to the full pit garage flooring and wall panel structures that are assembled to adorn the normally bland pit garages.

The race technicians are as you would imagine, also very far from your average mechanic at your local main dealer; with a "can do" attitude, these guys can work together to replace major components unimaginably quickly under great pressure, to keep us all in the race.

Putting aside for one moment the media elements from Television exposure through to (very attractive and scantily clad) Pirelli girls; most noticeable about this sport, is the camaraderie that the race event creates between all the members of the team, there really is an incredibly fun but tense atmosphere to experience on that pit wall during a race. We invite you to join us!
